And we lived on eels
for dinner and tea,
Welney,
Wilbey,
Whittlesea,
Ely.
But the Dutchman came
to pump out the sea,
Stuntney,
Coveney,
Pentney,
Padney.
And that was the end
of food for free,
Hainey,
Holmsey,
Shi ....ppea,
Ramsey.
He didn't give a toss
for you and me,
So FIDDLE DE DEE,
Manea,
Quanea,
Thorney,
Norney!
Note: These are all real places. Fen names with the suffix ey and ea were islands. Ey and ea are pronounced ee. Manea is May-knee; Quanea, Kway-knee.
