Milton Sewage Farm.

A precursor for scratch'n'sniff multimedia!

Milton Sewage Works will have been noticed by many people who drive along the nearby stretch of A14 at around 8.30 a.m. - and not because it is particularly visible! Map
The works were fed by a steam driven pumping station on Riverside, Cambridge until the 1960's when a more sophisticated system was introduced. Since the Sewage Works has proved somewhat difficult to gain access to, TVT would like to divert attention to the Riverside pumping station which has been converted into a fascinating and successful museum of technology by a team of volunteers. The museum is open from 2pm. to 5pm. on Sunday afternoons.
I have heard that there are plans to modernise the sewage works in the near future, replacing it with a much smaller but more technologically advanced system. I hope to find out about this soon.
